IUCDs getting accepted
Dar es Salaam August 4th, 2011 …MORE and more Tanzanians are slowly getting to understand the importance of using long term family planning methods. As a result of this increasing awareness, three PSI/Tanzania regions - Tanga, Dar es Salaam (zone 1) and Kigoma - have surpassed IUCD insertions targets in the past six months.
“Of these three regions, Tanga was the highest performer achieving 122% of the targeted 1,000 women followed jointly by Dar es Salaam zone 1 (with a target of 1,300 women) and Kigoma (with a target of 200 women) which both hit 108% of their respective targets,” said Victoria Marijan of the reproductive health program.
