Dr Miller leaves PSI/Tanzania for regional post
After a distinguished career at PSI/Tanzania spanning over a decade, Dr Jane Miller, is moving on to take on a challenging new position in the PSI Global Malaria and Child Survival Department based in Nairobi.
Jane was until her recent new appointment by PSI/Washington, the Interim Director for Technical Services at PSI/Tanzania, a post she ascended to very recently following a top management transition this year.
Announcing Jane’s transfer, which takes effect from August this year, PSI/Tanzania Country Representative, Daniel Crapper, described the move as “momentous” and “an enormous transition” describing the outgoing Director as an outstanding power-house behind the success story of the malaria program.
A lot has been achieved during Jane’s tenure as head of the Malaria program and then MCH Director including the declining by half the number of malaria deaths and illness in the country.
“Although based in Nairobi, I will be coming to PSI/Tanzania in the course of my new role” Jane told a clearly astonished management team members soon after the Country Director broke the news to the team.
“I am obviously extremely sad to be leaving PSI/Tanzania, but the purpose of my new role is to secure funding and implement programs to address the three key childhood illnesses -pneumonia, diarrheal disease and malaria and under-nutrition which is a huge underlying factor of child deaths. Tanzania will of course be my number one, top priority country”, Jane said.
