Zanzibar stakeholders call for increased collaboration with PSI
STAKEHOLDERS in Zanzibar, particularly government agencies, would like to have an increased level of interaction with PSI.
The feeling was expressed in January at meetings between PSI Corporate Affairs Director, John Wanyancha, and a section of members from the Zanzibar Ministry of Health, members of the Zanzibar House of Representatives and the sector’s executive agencies.
“As we continue working together we need to get regular reports on PSI planned activities and outcomes,” said Dr Mohammed Jiddawi, the PS for Zanzibar Ministry of Health.
Newly appointed Minister for Health Juma Duni Haji also urged for continued collaboration with PSI in increasing the health impact in the Isles.
The Zanzibar Aid Commission Advocacy Coordinator (ZAC), Nuru Ramsay, noted that there is growing visibility of PSI products and services in the Isles except for condom distribution, a shortfall she said calls for PSI to address existing cultural barriers around condom use in Zanzibar.
“we are ready to offer our support to PSI on this course,” she said.
