Govt lauds PSI social marketing efforts
THE Government has praised PSI’s aggressive social marketing campaigns which have led to continued growth its products and services distribution.
The credit was given by Health and Social Welfare Minister Dr Haji Mponda this week at a courtesy call meeting with PSI management.
“PSI has been very good in marketing its products and services, a factor that is evidently responsible for the growing volumes of product distribution,” said Dr Mponda.
Outlining the priority health areas for the coming five years, Dr Mponda said his ministry was keen to continue working with PSI to reduce maternal mortality, neonatal deaths and other disease burdens being addressed by PSI.
PSI ED updated the Minister of the ongoing scale up of family planning services which include the planned introduction of clean delivery packs to expectant mothers as a strategy to curb maternal mortality.
Other areas highlighted to the Minister by the ED include the ongoing sensitization on the Universal Coverage campaign for malaria, the brand repositioning and repackaging of Salama condoms, ADDO rollout.
The minister was also impressed to learn of the newly established partnership between PSI and T-marc under the Tanzania Social Marketing Project (TSMP), a move geared towards growing the condom market in the country.
“This partnership is about leveraging the experiences of our two organizations in social marketing for increased health impact to the communities we serve,” Daniel explained
